JFCS Squirrel Hill Food Pantry Rooted In Community
De to rising food costs, unexpected hardships, and SNAP cuts, many neighbors are turning to the JFCS Squirrel Hill Food Pantry. During this challenging time, we are reminded, every day, that food is not just a basic need; it’s the foundation of dignity, opportunity, and community.
We are all connected to someone who experiences unanticipated challenges. It might be a neighbor, a friend, a coworker, or maybe even ourselves. It’s moments like these when we are reminded that the strength of a community lies in its compassion and unity.
That’s exactly what we are seeing now. Our community is rallying together to support one another and create meaningful change.
New volunteers are helping us staff expanded pantry hours in the critical months of November and December. A group of retirees from Westinghouse came together to donate $1,300 to the Pantry. Uncover Squirrel Hill is raising money and supporting the Pantry at this year’s Holiday Wine Walk on December 13. The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh awarded the Pantry with a $10,000 emergency grant to support us as we meet community needs and preserve access to kosher foods.
We are so thankful to the generous donors and volunteers who ensure that no one is left behind during times of hardship.
Together we can walk with humility and spread our compassion. See how you can get involved below.

Randy G. from Westinghouse dropped off their donation and saw first hand how it will fuel our mission.
