April News at JFCS

Dear Friends,

Happy Passover! We hope you are having a wonderful holiday.

Many of us gathered around our Seder tables last week and recounted the story of Passover, remembering how our ancestors were once strangers in a new land, fleeing oppression in search of safety, dignity, and a better life for their families. This story poignantly reminds us of the lived experiences of so many of our immigrant neighbors today.

Through this connection, we are encouraged to treat one another with compassion and empathy, and to recognize the shared humanity that connects us all.

From all of us at JFCS, we wish you a very happy final days of Passover with your loved ones.

With gratitude,
Dr. Jordan Golin
President & CEO

Help Feed Our Community with Dignity: Support the JFCS Spring Appeal

With the social safety net weakened, more people than ever are facing hunger. Over the past year, the JFCS Squirrel Hill Food Pantry served more neighbors than in any single year in our 25‑year history.

We remain deeply committed to honoring the dignity and diverse traditions of everyone we serve. Our pantry invites individuals and families to shop for fresh produce, proteins, and staple foods that meet their cultural and dietary needs — including kosher, halal, and gluten‑free options.

During the holidays, we’re reminded of the power of shared meals and our shared responsibility to care for one another. Your support of the pantry helps us provide nourishing, culturally appropriate food for our neighbors with dignity and choice.

Thank you for standing with us and for honoring the dignity and traditions of all who come through our doors.

JFCS Squirrel Hill Food Pantry Highlights

Before Passover, Rabbi Eli Wilansky of B’nai Emunoh Chabad in Greenfield visited the JFCS Squirrel Hill Food Pantry to pick up matzah, grape juice, and other essentials for community members who would benefit from extra support during the holiday.

Thanks to board member Rachel Usdan’s outreach, Chicken of the Sea generously donated over 90 pounds of tuna to the JFCS Squirrel Hill Food Pantry! We’re deeply grateful for this contribution that will help support those we serve.
