412 Friends of Zahal helps out at the Food Pantry

412 Friends of Zahal - JFCS Pittsburgh
This week we had the group from 412 Friends of Zahal stop by to learn about our services and volunteer! This is pulled from their Facebook page, ” For many years, a group of private citizens from Pittsburgh created the American Friends of Israeli War Disabled program (AKA 412 Friends of Zahal) for the purpose of strengthening the connection between Israel and the American Jewish Community. Every spring, we host a group of disabled Israeli war veterans who are selected by the Disabled Israeli War Veteran’s Organization.”  They asked a lot of questions about our services and food insecurity and also shared some insightful information about pantry services in Israel.

They bagged packed up 150 pounds of barley and packed potatoes, onions, pears, and oranges (at least 500 pounds!). This is such an immense help to our Pantry! We had such a wonderful time hosting them all – thank you for your service to your country and for stopping by to learn about what we do!
