WorkAble partnership to hold career fair in the South Hills next week

WorkAble, a partnership of the Career Development Center of Jewish Family & Children’s Service, North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) and South Hills Interfaith Ministry (SHIM), will hold a career fair for adults throughout the region on Wednesday, September 18, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at SHIM’s offices at 5301 Park Avenue, Bethel Park, PA 15102.

The upcoming career fair will include employers from Giant Eagle, PNC, St. Clair Hospital, the University of Pittsburgh and others. These employers are seeking to fill a variety of full and part-time openings, including positions in the administrative, finance and healthcare fields. Those wishing to attend must register in advance by calling 412-854-9120.

Launched in the fall of 2012 and supported by the United Way of Allegheny County, WorkAble is a county-wide employment service for financially struggling adults, and serves individuals throughout Allegheny County at NHCO sites in Allison Park and Millvale, SHIM offices in Bethel Park and JF&CS offices in Squirrel Hill.

WorkAble is unique in that the program serves both jobseekers ready to meet the challenges of a job search and those who need to overcome barriers before they can search for employment.

Through this collaboration, and the funding of the United Way, each agency’s individual strengths are leveraged and maximized to ensure a convenient, consistent, high-quality approach to employment and services to help struggling individuals. JF&CS’s Career Development Center counselors work onsite at NHCO and SHIM locations to provide resume and cover letter help, teach interviewing, job search and computer skills and offer support and encouragement to job seekers.
