Staff offers helpful advice to parents through local library

As a non-profit organization, we often work with other local organizations that provide for the welfare of Pittsburgh citizens in need.  For the past few years, members of our staff have contributed articles to the Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library’s newsletter.

The Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library, located in Shadyside, has provided a safe place for young children and their caregivers to play for more than 35 years.  There is plenty of high-quality, age-appropriate toys in the space, and members may borrow them for home use as well.  The library is completely run by volunteers, and looks to build happy families through play and positive interactions.

A handful of our employees have contributed articles to the PTLL newsletter that is issued every other month.  While the articles discuss a variety of topics, they all pertain to young children and their caregivers.  For example, previous articles have touched on issues from free will to adoption to play therapy.  The most recent article, written by licensed social worker Barbara Wollman, offered advice on how to deal with children’s picky eating habits.  She encouraged parents to offer children new foods in small quantities often, and eventually their children will sample them.

The Toy Lending Library is an excellent resource for parents who may not be able to afford toys for their children.   For more information, visit their website or call 412.682.4430.
