The evening will kick off at Rodef Shalom (4905 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, 15213) at 6:30 p.m. with registration and a dessert reception (kosher dietary laws observed). The meeting begins at 7:15 p.m., and is chaired by JF&CS board member Gail Childs.

In honor of our 77th Annual Meeting, the evening’s program will feature keynote speaker, Rabbi Dr. David Nesenoff. Nesenoff is an engaging, thoughtful speaker with a track record of speaking on behalf of the Jewish people and against anti-Semitism. In 2010, Nesenoff’s interview with journalist and dean of the Washington press corps Helen Thomas at the White House caused a striking effect on Israel, international media, anti-Semitism and personally transformed Nesenoff’s life. At JF&CS’s Annual Meeting, Nesenoff will deliver a message about the resiliency of JF&CS and the Jewish people–with incredible humor.

This year, the theme of JF&CS’s Annual Meeting focuses on the resiliency and growth of both clients and the agency. Each year, JF&CS serves more than 8,000 people who utilize services and programs related to unemployment, food insecurity, elder care, critical needs and more when faced with life transitions and crises, with the goal of helping individuals and families achieve or regain and maintain self-sufficiency.

The meeting will also include reports from JF&CS Leadership as well as Board President Wendy Mars, Ph.D. and Aryeh Sherman, JF&CS President & CEO. The JF&CS board governance committee will present the annual Dr. Howard A. Mermelstein Leadership Award to David Lassman, who currently serves as Treasurer of the JF&CS Board of Directors. The award was created by the family of the late Dr. Mermelstein to recognize in others the commitment to the mission of JF&CS that exemplified his own life. In his role as a board member, David has demonstrated strong leadership, commitment to the community, as well as dedication to the mission of JF&CS.

The annual meeting is free and open to the public. RSVPs are requested and may be made by return RSVP card, online at jfcspgh.org or by calling Melissa Goodfriend at 412-586-3777.

We hope you’ll join us to celebrate JF&CS’s many accomplishments over our past year of service to the Greater Pittsburgh community, enjoy a wonderful presentation by Rabbi Dr. David Nesenoff, meet JF&CS staff, board members and community partners–and learn more about what’s in store for our community from JF&CS!
