Immigrant Workforce Program – Healthcare

On September 28, IWP (Immigrant Workforce Program) is presenting a 10 week virtual program (that meets twice weekly from 6-8pm Monday and Wednesday) that is designed for individuals looking to enter or upgrade their current career in healthcare fields.

Before the program begins, we are hosting two virtual Information Sessions in September intended for both prospective participants and service providers to gain additional information about the program:

Below is a full rundown of what the program includes and eligibility requirements.

Program Overview:

  • Start date: September 28, 2020
  • 10 week virtual program | Twice weekly (6 – 8 pm Mon/Wed) meetings online via Zoom
  • Workforce development cohort focused on the healthcare industry
  • Participants are expected to attend ALL sessions

Program will Provide:

  • Career development & career laddering services for jobs in the healthcare industry
  • One-on-one career counseling
  • Access to English language classes at Literacy Pittsburgh
  • Mock interviews & interview strategies
  • Employer partnerships & events, including employer representatives teaching sessions
  • Technology tools and access, if needed, for participation

Target Participants:

  • Individuals looking to career ladder or upgrade their current career in healthcare fields
  • Individuals that have the time and commitment for an active job search
  • Individuals who speak English at a High Intermediate level
    • Classes will not provide interpretation

Requirements for Participants:

  • Must be fully authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to attend all sessions
  • Must be able to engage with the material
  • Must want to get a job in healthcare or want to upgrade from their current job
  • Must have time and ability to job search
