Coloring activity to show #IStandWithImmigrants

Courtesy of the ILC Public Education Institute:

During these uncertain times, it’s important to find new ways to express our support and thankfulness for our immigrant neighbors and essential workers. Immigrants are both overrepresented in essential service industries including health care, food services, agriculture and sanitation as well as vulnerable to the xenophobic ideas that have cropped up around the COVID-19 outbreak. We want to offer you and your community a tool to address these issues with our Drawing Support series of coloring pages that can also be displayed as window signs and messages. We hope you will share these widely.

Each coloring page is paired with stories and discussion questions to help children understand what it means to be an essential worker, why it’s important to support newcomers in our community, and how we can be good friends to each other even from a safe distanceThey also come with links to books and stories that help illustrate these themes in different cultural contexts. New artwork will be posted weekly.

We hope that you find this resource helpful as we find new ways to support each other. For more information about how to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak as well as educational resources for parents who are currently homeschooling, check out our COVID-19 resource pagePlease share your artwork with us by tagging @ilctr (Twitter) or @immigrantlearningcenter (Facebook) using the hashtags #DrawingSupport and #IStandWithImmigrants
