412Futures

412 Futures an afterschool career development program from the JFCS Career Development Center.  The goal of 412 Futures is to prepare high school-aged immigrant and refugee students in Allegheny County with the knowledge and skills they need in order to achieve their personal, educational, and career goals.  Through interactive, youth-focussed workshops led by Career Development Center staff, the 412 Futures program offers a curriculum designed to help students identify and explore careers of interest, develop crucial workforce skills, and to successfully transition from high school to the workforce or to a post-secondary educational institution.

The program also leverages JFCS’s ties within Allegheny County’s immigrant and refugee communities to present bi-monthly workshops to parents and other adult mentors of students.  Parent involvement is a crucial part of student success, and 412 Futures aims to provide parents with the knowledge and tools to help guide their children toward their post-high school futures.  Workshop topics include Navigating the American School System, FAFSA Preparation, Understanding Higher Education, and more!

The 412 Futures program is open to immigrant and refugee high school students (ages 14-21) in Allegheny County.  Students at all levels of English proficiency are welcome. Students who require language support will have access to interpretation and translation services provided by JFCS.
