JFCS Squirrel Hill Food Pantry is open 5 days a week to provide food and essential support for people in our greater community.
Due to staff shortages, in-person shopping will be unavailable this summer. We are hiring and will update clients immediately when in-person shopping resumes.
Starting July 15, the Pantry will offer clients express grocery pickup to minimize any inconvenience. Groceries will be packed, ready for pick-up, with clients’ dietary needs and family size in mind.
People who have already scheduled appointments for July can pick up their food at their scheduled appointment times. Those who have not yet scheduled appointments should come at their convenience for the remainder of July.
Beginning August 5th, monthly grocery pickups will take place based on last names. Clients will have the flexibility to come to the Pantry on their assigned week during open hours. Please follow this schedule:
- Week 1: A-G: August 5-9
- Week 2: H-L: August 12-16
- Week 3: M-S: August 19-23
- Week 4: T-Z: August 26-30
Hours of operation:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 9-12:15
Tuesday and Thursday, 9-12:15; 1:30-2:45
At a monthly visit, clients can expect to receive pre-packed grocery bags that supplement their families’ basic needs. The bags will follow client dietary requirements such as Kosher, Halal, Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free. While we can accommodate some customization based on documented medical conditions, we are unable to tailor bags to personal preferences.
Each bag includes shelf-stable items, fresh eggs, fresh produce, and frozen meat or meat substitutes.
There will be no substitutions.
