Information and Referral

JF&CS is part of AgeWell Pittsburgh, a collaboration of three agencies; JF&CS, the Jewish Association on Aging and the Jewish Community Center, offering a number of services for older adults. One call to the AgeWell Pittsburgh Information and Referral line at JF&CS puts you in contact with a knowledgeable specialist who will help you get the service and support you need—from AgeWell partner agencies or through other community resources.

Growing older comes with challenges and decisions that can often be overwhelming. Whether you are local or caring for your parent(s) from a distance, JF&CS is an invaluable resource. Our Certified Care Managers are licensed clinical social workers trained to assess, plan, coordinate, monitor and provide services for older adults, their families and caregivers.

Having a reliable, trustworthy and caring caregiver is often critical to keeping your aging loved one safely at home. Our Caregiver Connection is a Pennsylvania-licensed Home Care Registry through which JF&CS provides fully-screened, trained and experienced caregivers for short- or long-term engagements, with 24/7 back-up coverage as needed.

Family Consultation

Often the hardest part of caregiving is getting your loved one to accept help—from you or from professionals. Family/sibling dynamics may also be a problem. JF&CS's Certified Care Managers have extensive experience in working with families to address difficult issues and help put together a well-thought-out plan for your aging loved one based on the needs and wishes of those who will be receiving care and of family members.

Counseling & Support Groups

Aging presents challenges that can be overwhelming for everyone involved. For aging adults, it might be a growing mental infirmity, the death of a spouse or the loss of independence. For adult children, it may be the stress of juggling the care of an older parent with the demands of families and jobs. Our professional staff—licensed clinical social workers, psychologists and consulting geriatric psychiatrist—are adept at addressing the psychological challenges of aging.

JF&CS's program for Holocaust survivors addresses the unique needs of Jewish victims of Nazi persecution through services including home-based care, counseling and help in filing claims for reparations.

AgeWell Rides transportation service is a community program operated by Jewish Family & Children’s Service, a partner in AgeWell Pittsburgh and a collaborator in Open Your Heart to a Senior. AgeWell Rides is a volunteer driver program whose goal is to help older adults remain active and independent by accessing safe and reliable transportation with community volunteers.
