The search for rewarding employment can be a daunting task. Where do you start? How do you find the “hidden” jobs? We can help you define and conduct a strategic and successful job search campaign.

How We Help

Our counselors stay up-to-date in the rapidly changing world of hiring managers and how they operate. We provide assistance researching target companies and identifying open positions. We continuously re-evaluate your progress and help you adjust your plan strategy and marketing materials as needed. We have ongoing relationships with local employers that we can leverage and we are aware of current open positions. We hold several job fairs a year on behalf of area employers where you can present yourself and make that all important first impression in person.

Every individual is unique, but some groups of people face particular barriers in securing employment. We understand the special issues faced by mature workers, highly-skilled legal immigrants, at-risk youth, recent college graduates, individuals living with mental health challenges and autism spectrum disorders, the long-term unemployed, and those laid off from their last job. Our counselors will address your needs and tailor your plan accordingly.

JFCS Career Services is expanding services outside of Allegheny County to reach job seekers across the region. Through a new initiative of the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies (NJHSA) and in partnership with the Jewish Federations of North America, JFCS will be one of 19 organizations across the country launching Project EM: Empowering and Employing our Community, a nationwide network to provide jobseekers with assistance, resources, and tools they need to find work.

How We Help

The ups and downs of the pandemic have thrown a curve ball into the job market. Many workers remain on the sideline, find themselves severely underemployed, work multiple jobs, or lack access to benefits. Others, who have up-skilled during the pandemic, need help breaking into new fields.

The goal of Project EM is to ensure that no matter where someone is on their career path or where they are located geographically, they can get the support they require to get a job–or a better job–free of charge. Through Project EM, job seekers can access interactive workshops, technical skills training, financial literacy sessions, resume writing assistance, and personalized career coaching, as well as job listings.
