Volunteer in-home mentor training to help refugee families

JFCS Refugee & Immigrant Services is looking for mentors who help refugee and immigrant families understand and enjoy their new city.
In-home Mentors act as friendly supporters, helping refugee clients learn English, become financially literate, understand American culture, and feel welcomed into the community. Mentors are matched to a refugee family or individual and asked to make a commitment of at least one 1-2 hour visit per week for at least six months.
Volunteers should be comfortable working with limited English speakers, be culturally competent and have an interest in helping people from other cultures – patience is a virtue!
