How You Can Help

Volunteers and donors are the heart and soul of Jewish Family & Children's Service. Only about 30% of our annual revenue comes from client fees. The other 70% of our annual revenue comes from the United Jewish Federation, United Way of Allegheny County, Jewish Healthcare Foundation, foundation and corporate grants, government contracts, investment income and individual contributions.

Every dollar donated…every hour of time volunteered…translates to direct service for family, friends and neighbors who struggle with critical issues related to aging, disability, poverty, family discord, infertility, resettlement and more.

We couldn't exist without you.

Thank you for choosing JF&CS as an organization through which you can make a difference in the lives of those who truly need a helping hand.

Donate

Every day, hundreds of individuals and families in our community struggle with lifecycle transitions or unexpected crises. Although some people who turn to us for help can afford to, and do, pay for service, many more cannot. For these individuals and families, we rely on grants, contracts and the generosity of our community which allows us to offer services on a sliding fee scale, based on a client's ability to pay (that is, clients pay from none to a portion of the fee for service). JF&CS has many giving options to meet the interests of our community of supporters. Learn more.

Volunteer

Volunteers are an essential part of JF&CS. Last year, our Squirrel Hill Food Pantry operated with the help of more than 700 volunteers who provided time sorting donations, packing grocery bags for distribution, delivering groceries to the homebound and more. Volunteers are also critical in helping our Refugee Resettlement staff. They collect household and clothing donations, help set up apartments for newly arrived refugees, visit with refugee families to practice English conversation or help children with their homework and more.
