SUMMARY:Highmark and Squirrel Hill Food Pantry Walk for a Healthy Community
DESCRIPTION:The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is an annual fundraising walk and is part of the Highmark Bright Blue Futures charitable giving and community involvement program that focuses on improving equitable access to care\, quality of life\, and economic resilience in the communities we serve.\nThe primary goal of the walk is to help participating organizations raise money for their individual missions. One hundred percent of the funds raised through this event go directly back to the participating organizations\, as Highmark underwrites all the associated costs of the event.\nJFCS is participating this this event to raise money for food and supplies. At JFCS Squirrel Hill Food Pantry\, we know that everyone needs to eat every day. That’s why we’re open 5 days a week for our friends and neighbors to get the food their families need to be healthy. Our supplies include Kosher food and Halal meat; and we work with JFCS Refugee & Immigration Services to make sure that every refugee we help to resettle in Pittsburgh starts with a fully stocked kitchen.\nWhile some of our food is donated\, much of it is purchased.
