Seeking After School Program Mentors for Refugee Kids

Become a Pittsburgh Mentor! Volunteer as an after school mentor and enrich the lives of youth, immigrants and refugees! Serve K-12 youth who are from the greater Pittsburgh area or recently moved here from Syria, Congo, Somalia, and Afghanistan.

After School Club in Crafton Heights run by ARYSE (arysepgh.org), JFCS (jfcspgh.org) and  Islamic Center of Pittsburgh focuses on supporting youth through changes and challenges while bridging the gap for English learners and the greater community. Mentors will be supported by program coordinators to help students complete homework, plan for their future or build identity through enrichment activities.

Sessions will begin October 2nd and meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 pm at the Pittsburgh Gifted Center in Crafton Heights. Mentors must attend at least 3 sessions each month from October-December, with the option of continuing the commitment through the spring semester. Training and orientation are mandatory and will be provided the weekend of September 22nd or 29th.
