Partnership highlighted for helping Pittsburgh’s seniors “AgeWell”

AgeWell Pittsburgh impacts the lives of thousands of local seniors, decreasing emergency room visits and lowering nursing home admission rates in comparison to rates in Pittsburgh and nationwide.

At JF&CS, we are dedicated to helping our community’s seniors maintain the highest level of independence. Through our AgeWell Pittsburgh collaboration with the Jewish Association on Aging (JAA), Jewish Community Center (JCC), the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and the United Way of Allegheny County, we provide a network of services, programs and information on issues related to aging and older adults. Together, we work to keep the elderly in our community healthy and independent for as long as possible.

For seniors like Elfie Rook, a Brain Builders participant who regularly plays bridge at the JCC, and Joe Finkelpearl, who makes check-in telephone calls to other local seniors through the CheckMates program, the programs and services offered through AgeWell Pittsburgh are key to helping seniors
remain healthy, active and independent as they age.

JF&CS President & CEO Aryeh Sherman and Jordan Golin, director of clinical services at JF&CS’s Squirrel Hill Psychological Services, as well as Elfie and Joe, spoke to both the Pittsburgh Business Times and radio station 90.5 WESA last week about the AgeWell Pittsburgh partnership, accomplishments and impact on Pittsburgh’s seniors.
