LAST CHANCE — Scholarship deadline is February 8

The February 8 deadline for Central Scholarship & Loan Referral Service (CSLRS) applications is rapidly approaching. Below is a quick overview of the program with links and contact information to guide you through the 2011-2012 application process before it is too late.

Who is eligible?
CSLRS is open to any Jewish high school senior, college or graduate student with demonstrated financial need currently residing in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington or Westmoreland County. In addition, students who are residents of Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Lawrence, Mercer or Venango County are eligible to apply only for the Sarah and Tena Goldstein Memorial Scholarship, a very competitive fund.

How do you apply?
CSLRS makes the scholarship process easy — complete just one online application and be considered for numerous community scholarships. Visit the www.centralscholarship.org to learn more about eligibility and access the online application. First-time applicants also will need to be interviewed by CSLRS staff.

Are the scholarships need-based?
All funds require demonstrated financial need. Depending on the guidelines of each award, other factors such as academic achievement, community involvement and personal characteristics also are considered.
