This past Monday and Tuesday, we attended the PA NEN Annual Conference. This Pennsylvania Nutrition Education Network Conference was full of informative sessions, fulfilling networking opportunities, and resources that have immediate real world application. Featured in the selfie is the new PA NEN Executive Director, Serina Gaston. She said that she hopes to lead the organization in its efforts to continue to provide nutrition educators with lasting and meaningful information that teaches the families they serve the importance of eating a balances diet as a vital part of good health and wellbeing.
The board in the background is from the JFCS Squirrel Hill Food Pantry. It was selected as one of three posters that were presented at the conference this year. People were able to get a look at what we have been doing with translated nutrition education! This particular board is in Nepali and English, and is really accessible to everyone, no matter what language they speak, because of the strong visuals. This board specifically educates people on some healthier alternatives to some of their favorite foods!
