High Holiday preparations at the Pantry

It’s that time of year again at the Pantry, where we are all working hard to prepare for the High Holidays. We are looking forward to the High Holiday Food Drives. Each year we send letters out to congregations, prepare brown bags to distribute, and ask our community for support. The food drive kicks off with the celebration of Rosh Hashanah.

As in previous years, we will purchase apples, honey, and challahs for our clients who celebrate Rosh Hashanah. We’ll also be receiving donated challahs from Creative Kosher in partnership with the Jewish Federation. People really love the freshly baked challahs and we appreciate this thoughtful donation each year.

We expect to get rolling towards the end of September, before Rosh Hashanah actually starts. This is always an exciting time at the Pantry, when staff and volunteers are busy making space for incoming donations and helping to distribute Rosh Hashanah goodies. Thank you to all our community members for donating such wonderful items! We look forward to kicking off the High Holiday Food Drive and hope you’ll be able to join in and donate some items to your congregation!
