Coming Home to Pittsburgh: Local Immigrant Leaders Share Their Stories

This Welcoming Week, hear from local immigrant leaders about building their home and community in Pittsburgh!

 

Featured Speakers:

Pralad Mishra, from the Bhutanese Community. Pralad arrived in the United States in 2009 as a refugee and works as manager at Candid Homecare.

Hanifa Nakiryowa, from the Ugandan Community. Hanifa came to the United States in 2015 on a visitor visa, then got student status to attend graduate school at University of Pittsburgh. Hanifa works as a Global Health Associate at the Jewish Healthcare Foundation.

Noorulhaq Fazly, from the Afghan Community, who came to the US in 2016 as a Special Immigrant Visa or SIV holder, and currently works at JFCS as an Employment Specialist.

Zermina Sarwari, also from the Afghan community, who arrived in 2017 and is the co-founder of Zafaron Cuisine, a catering company.
