AAPI Heritage Month: Featuring the Art of Ikenobo

May 31, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, and JFCS is excited to celebrate with an event featuring the art of Ikenobo. Join us on Wednesday, May 31 at 12pm for a presentation on the art of arranging flowers and finding beauty in them. This art form is deeply rooted in valuing nature and caring for others.

The presentation will be given by Kazuko Maeshiro and Sono Hayes from the Ikebana International Pittsburgh Chapter. Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement, and the Ikenobo school is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools of Ikebana.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn about the art of Ikenobo and its significance in AAPI culture. Join us for a celebration of AAPI Heritage Month and the beauty of nature.

We will provide the foliage, you bring the vase!
