The Grandparents Circle is a free five-session course that supports and educates participants in their efforts to nurture the Jewish identities of their interfaith grandchildren while respecting the choices of their intermarried adult children. Participants learn techniques for listening to and talking with their adult children, incorporating Judaism into everyday conversations and creating Jewish memories for their grandchildren.
Upcoming sessions will be held at Rodef Shalom in Shadyside on Wednesdays, beginning March 25 and continuing April 8 and 22 and May 6 and 20, from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Gila Wasserman-Lux, a therapist at Squirrel Hill Psychological Services, will lead the Shadyside sessions.
“The group goal is to create a warm and supportive community of grandparents who want to nurture Jewish identity in their interfaith grandchildren,” Gila said.
The Grandparents Circle is a program of Big Tent Judaism, presented by JF&CS and sponsored locally by the Agency for Jewish Learning through funding by the Sylvia and Martin Snow Charitable Foundation Fund.
