The evening kicks off at Temple Sinai at 6:30pm with registration and a dessert reception (kosher dietary laws observed). The meeting begins at 7:00pm, and is being chaired by Barbara Shapira, the chair of JF&CS’s SOS Pittsburgh allocation committee. During the meeting, she will be introducing our new SOS Pittsburgh video.
SOS Pittsburgh, established in 2005 with the help of Edgar and Sandy Snyder, serves as a safety net of last resort for individuals and families facing crises that have nowhere else to turn.
The meeting also will feature the presentation of the Dr. Howard A. Mermelstein Leadership Award. The award was created by the family of the late Dr. Mermelstein to recognize in others the commitment to the mission of JF&CS that exemplified his own life. This year’s awardee is Wendy M. Mars, PhD, a highly active JF&CS Board member who has provided leadership on numerous projects for the Board over the years.
