Employment Services
JF&CS has a Career Development Center where you can get help to find a job, including helping you to figure out how your skills and interests fit into the U.S. workplace.
How We Help
- Immigrant employment specialists will evaluate your job skills, English language proficiency and past work experience, as well as talk with you about how your skills and interests translate into the U.S. workforce. For those with limited English, referrals to English as a Second Language classes are available.
- Special workshops introduce and prepare you for working in the U.S. These workshops help you understand the American culture and workforce by demonstrating workforce manners and employee interaction.
- Immigrant employment specialists help you locate job openings appropriate to your skills, experience and interests; and they will help you write resumes and develop interview skills for specific job openings.
Meet the People We Help
-
Svetlana* and Josef*, a couple who had been doctors in their native Eastern European nation, received visas to come to the United States. Although they would not be able to practice medicine here, they still hoped to work in the healthcare field. They had very little knowledge of the English language, though, and they struggled to find work in a hospital.
