The JF&CS mission is to build a stronger community, one individual at a time. We do this through high quality and innovative psychological, social and employment services provided by a staff of more than 60 professionals, including licensed social workers, psychologists, career counselors, immigration attorneys, adoption and refugee caseworkers, and more. JF&CS is the place where individuals and families in our community turn for help when life transitions or unexpected crises become overwhelming. Some of our clients can afford to pay for our help, many cannot.
We are grateful to our generous donors, on whose support our work depends.
JF&CS Annual Campaign
JF&CS's annual campaign provides critical support which allows JF&CS the flexibility to respond quickly to the ever changing needs in our community, and to provide crucial supportive services in areas not covered by dwindling or restricted government, corporate and foundation dollars. A gift to our annual campaign helps ensure that we will be able to continue to serve the more than 5,000 community members who turn to us each year for help. To contribute to the JF&CS Annual Campaign contact Emily Kinnarid (412) 586-3775.
Squirrel Hill Food Pantry Annual Campaign
The mission of the Food Pantry is to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry and that additional supportive services are available to both the frail elderly or disabled who will continue to rely on the Food Pantry and those who need help to get back on their feet and once again support themselves and their families. JF&CS makes an annual appeal for designated Food Pantry funding. To contribute to the Food Pantry Annual Campaign, please contact Emily Kinnaird at (412) 586-3775.
It's easy and convenient to transfer stock in support of JF&CS. You can avoid taxes associated with the sale of appreciated stock and help others at the same time. Click here for instructions.
Tribute Contributions
JF&CS's Tribute Program allows individuals to make contributions to various funds established to serve the clients and programs of the agency. You can make donations to honor friends, families, colleagues and neighbors for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other celebrations or to memorialize a death. Tribute cards are personalized and sent from the agency to the individual being honored or memorialized. Each tribute card includes your name and address to make it simple for receivers to acknowledge.
Packages of blank tribute cards are also available for those who wish to personalize and mail themselves. Cards are available for both JF&CS and the Food Pantry. To make a donation, contact Emily Kinnaird, (412) 586-3775.
United Way
Many community members increase the impact of their financial support of JF&CS by designating JF&CS as beneficiary of all or part of their United Way gift. To designate JF&CS, specify #76 on your United Way pledge card.
Planned Giving
Establishing an endowment fund creates lasting financial resources for JF&CS. The United Jewish Federation Foundation carefully manages our endowment funds. The principal of the fund is always retained, allowing it to grow in perpetuity. Some JF&CS supporters have established endowments to benefit JF&CS at The Pittsburgh Foundation or through other vehicles. Income earned by endowment funds is used to support JF&CS programs and enhance our ability to respond to community need. Further endowment allows us to plan for the future with strength and security.
Different planned giving options include:
Outright Gifts of Cash, Securities or Appreciated Property - A direct contribution of cash, stock or property is the easiest way to make a planned gift to JF&CS through our Endowment Fund. This helps the agency meet its current needs, as well as extending the impact of your gift well into the future.
Named Funds - An outright gift or pledge of $5,000 or more endows a Named Fund at JF&CS, giving you the opportunity to honor your family or someone you love in a significant, lasting way.
Bequests - Naming Jewish Family & Children's Service of Pittsburgh in your will or adding a codicil to your will is the most popular way to make a planned gift. If you do this, we would love to hear about it so we can thank you!
Life Income Gifts - Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts or Unitrusts give you the security of fixed, predictable income during your lifetime, with remaining assets directed to support the work of JF&CS.
Life Insurance - You can transfer ownership of a life insurance policy to Jewish Family & Children's Service of Pittsburgh, or make Jewish Family & Children's Service of Pittsburgh the beneficiary of the policy. This is an affordable way to guarantee a sizable legacy to the agency.
Endowment funds are critical to help us ensure our doors are open to those who need our help.
We invite you to become a partner with us to build a stronger community, one person at a time. For more information, call executive director Aryeh Sherman at (412) 422-7200 or email asherman@jfcspgh.org.
