OUR MISSION

Jewish Family & Children's Service exists to improve the quality of life of individuals and families in the Jewish and general communities by providing psychological, employment and social services.

Throughout our long history, the main purpose of JF&CS has remained very much the same - to maintain and strengthen family life. We meet this objective by continuously adapting our programs and services to meet the changing needs of our dynamic population. Jewish Family & Children's Service of Pittsburgh is known as a leader in providing innovative and effective social service solutions to problems facing families and individuals of all ages.

LICENSES, ACCREDITATIONS AND AFFILIATIONS

  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare for Outpatient Counseling; and Adoption, Foster Care and Private Child and Youth Services
  • Accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children
  • Recognized by the Board of Immigration Appeals of the U.S. Department of Justice to provide immigration services to foreign-born individuals with limited financial resources
  • Member International Association of Jewish Vocational Services
  • Member Association of Jewish Family & Children's Agencies
  • Member North American Council on Adoptable Children
  • Member Three Rivers Adoption Council Consortium
  • National Affiliate Elder Support Network

FUNDING

JF&CS is a beneficiary agency of the United Jewish Federation and the United Way of Allegheny County and also receives funding from the government, foundations, and generous contributors.Clients pay from all to none of our fee, depending on their means.

FEES
For many JF&CS programs, clients' fees are based on their ability to pay. Some underwritten programs are offered free of charge.  JF&CS is a licensed, outpatient mental health clinic and an approved service provider for most insurance and managed care plans.
